Default Ignition problem, Rav 4?
I have a 1998 Rav 4 and its developed a weird problem. I put the key in the ignition and it wont turn, acts as if if a totally foreign key. I can try and try and it just wont turn, Then all of a sudden it does, easy as pie. but this is usually hours after it jams up and i get stuck until it just decides to work again. Then its fine for weeks until randomly it strikes again. Any idea why this would happen?

Defective Toyota ignition lock. Poor quality ignition locks will make the key unusable, and will eventually stop working all together. Get it checked, or you may find yourself down and out miles from home like so may other toyota owners.

Cheap fix































Get a new key made for $8 or less for key shop (sears).
