There are two lights which look like cars and are red:
The first one is the vehicle immobilizer light. This is on whenever the Prius is off and indicates that the Prius cannot be hot-wired. It also indicates that the alarm system is on if your Prius is equipped with the optional alarm. This is probably the one that you're seeing. You are not the first person to notice this light only after a long period of ownership. The car in this light has a key in the middle of it.
The second is the door open light. The car in this light has it's doors open.
