tire ratings for toyota camry?

I have a 2009 toyota camry. I am in the process of purchasing new tires. I want to buy tires that will last longer than 36,000 miles. What is the difference between an H rated tire, an S rated tire and an V rated tire. My car comes with a V rated tire. Extremely confused on what to do. But need to save money!!

ask a tire salesperson for a tire that will last longer than 36,000 miles tires are rated "A""B" and "C"

and "A" being the best so on your heat and traction you look for an "A" also consider the tread depth. i like Micheline tires they wear good and when i hot rod they last but they are expensive but worth it. also a alignment is good and remember to rotate your tires so you will get even ware on them.

I'm not sure about the answer the other guy suggested. But are you reading off the tyre something like for example (195/70 R14 86 H) The letter at the end of the tyre rating, stands for the speed rating of that tyre. Yours is a V this means it is certified to go up to a maximum speed of 150 m.p.h.

the system is not in alphabetical order. These are the max speeds of some tyre letters(mph)

N 88 Q 100 S 112 T 118 U 124 H 130 V 150 Z over150 W 169 Y 188

The higher the speed rating the more expensive the tyre as it will withstand higher speeds.

Personally i would go with a repitable make and a tyre rating to suit the cars speed. But as with everything , the more expensive the tyre the longer it will last.

My previous Camry ate up tires like a wet sponge. It is probably just a defect in the Camry. Good luck.
