Default is anyone out there knowledgeable about 1986 toyota pickup 4x4's?
i just bought an 86 and im new to the toyota 4x4 world. i have a push button on the left side of my dash that i think is clutch related. also it sounds like my lifters are extremley noisey. i was wondering what i could do about this like maybe using a heavier oil. the owner said she has been using 10w40. any help would be great.

There is no button that is clutch related.































Ever. In any make or model of Car or Truck. The clutch is a completely independent system. Why would you even need a button to do anything with your clutch?































Take a picture of said button and I can tell you what it is/does.































Those 22R's and 22RE's tend to be noisy little motors. But very reliable. Use 5w30. You'll see a slight uptick in gas mileage and won't lose any protection. The idea that heavy oil will quiet lifters is sort of outdated and doesn't really work.































To be honest you might need a engine rebuild.

i wouldn't go heavier than 10w40. 10w30 probably better. the clutch switch is a bypass. normally you have to hold the clutch to the floor to crank it. if you push the button you can crank it w/o clutch down.. that is for circumstance off road when you kill engine on uphill grade. you can start engine in gear and start up Hill. accepted off road practice. Noisy valves. If you have the 4 cyl it probably has mechanical lifters and you need a mechanic to adjust them.
