Default Can someone help me get my toyota camry to start. 1985?
I have a 1985 toyota camry, I was replacing the alternator after a test and did not put the positive back on before i put the battery back on. There were sparks and smoke, but I didn't find a burnt fuse or a melted wire. the only thing that comes on is the headlights and the charge light on the dash.

Hmmm...















you very well might have fried your brand new alternator.















Without the one cable hooked up, the alternator has to work overtime.















The battery works as a sort of regulator itself... so the alternator 'spikes' and puts out a LOT of power.















If you can find a good wiring diagram online, that'd be a start... but I'd be less than hesitant to say you've fried your new alternator...































anyone else have an idea?
