Almost every car made since the early 1970s is hopelessly expensive to convert between manual and automatic transmissions, or vice versa. Some claim it can be done for $3000 - $5000 but too many conversions fail completely, leaving the car unusable.
It would be cheaper and easier to sell that and buy an Automatic. You might even come out ahead as a lot of people like Manuals better. But if you tried to swap it? Oh man.
You're better off taken $10,000 in Cash and burning it on the ground. At least it will keep you warm for a few.
Don't do it. It's a total crap shoot as to whether parts will interchange between any two Toyotas. I replaced the automatic in my stepson's '85 with another automatic. It was one of the most horrible experiences of my life. There aren't strong enough swear words to do a job like that. He finally bought a Grand Am and then a Mustang. At least he learned from his mistakes. Sell that piece of crap and get a Mustang with an automatic.
