Hi
this old lady needs some maintenance like new head lights which will cost money.
but i would check on the state of the body as by now it could be rusty.
so is it worth buying new headlight lights for an old rust bucket.
then if the body has stood up to the test of time the electrical earth connections on the battery and the earth connections on the headlamps and headlight housing shells or do they need replacing have they Rusted away now, as i don't know where you live but if it's on the coast the rust is a bigger issue on the coast than it is inland due to salt in the atmosphere. it will hasten the process of rusting.
that is the usual reasons why light become dim, poor electrical connections as lights require power and Rust or here in the united kingdom we call it the METAL MOTH. as it eats it's way into most cars over ten years old, if you live on the coast then 8 years is about the life of a car.
