2002 4 runner starts but when go to shift to drive it shuts off. a/t oil light comes on...

Default 2002 4 runner starts but when go to shift to drive it shuts off. a/t oil light comes on...
...and eng light? car at shop now had to have it towed. Radiator was super hot and had only gone about a mile. after sitting an hour waiting for tow, still hot. shops not open on wknd, so I'm S.O.L till mon at earliest....cant afford a huge transmission bill?????

Have it scanned for trouble codes. All the red lights normally come on when the key is on and the engine is not running- that's normal. If the check engine light comes on, that's telling you there's attention needed. If the car shut off on you once, try and not worry. If it does it frequently, you need to go to the shop.

Does it idle without dying? What was the engine temp? Without knowing how well you've maintained the car, and what exactly is going on, it's really hard to help you.
