95 toyota camry door is stuck, need help?

Default 95 toyota camry door is stuck, need help?
1995 Toyota Camry Driverside door is stuck































My door won?t open from the inside or the outside. I read an article about the latch not returning to the neutral position?my mechanic said this was the case, but now that everything is moving ?full travel? he still can?t get the door open (the latch won?t release the pin, or something like that.) He has no idea what?s wrong, and his only solution is to tear off the door, and replace it. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas before I take this step.

I wouldn't go so far as to "tear the door off"! You (or your mechanic) should remove the inner door trim panel and yes - you will probably have to destroy it to do so since it is trapped between the door and frame. I am not sure what access you will then have - might have to cut a hole in the inner door panel near the latch. It could be that the lock link rod has just fallen off. if so - the latch can be unlocked and you can get it open. It seems odd that all the links would not work. The key doesn't work? The manual inside lock doesn't work - and neither inside or outside handle releases it? Was someone in the door with a slim jim and knocked all the links off? With all the screwing around it may just be faster and cheaper to get a door from a scrap yard and "tear" the existing door off. Would have to take care to not damage the car door frame. Cut the door flange near the latch and then go in with a saber saw and saw off the latch striker.
