Nope it doesn't because you aren't directly connected to the road anymore.
But that's the point. Now you don't get the vibration or feel every little bump in the road. It makes for a more comfortable ride.
If you want road feel, get a Sports car. But you are talking about a compact, economy car.
Also, if the steering was anywhere near what Alan thinks. Do you honestly believe they would let it on the road? or give it such good reviews?

It's all about what you're looking for. If it's road feel, get a sports car designed to give you some kind of feedback. If you want a reliable car that's easy to drive, get a Corolla.
