Default how much can I sell my 2001toyota Prius for since it has a dead transmission and dead batteries?
This is in good shape other wise but i need to get rid of this car. Or should I sell this car for parts only?

Take the price of a similar model in good operating condition. Then deduct the cost of the repairs. Deduct approximately $2000 for the transmission and $1200 for a replacement battery pack.































The going rate for a 2001 Prius in average condition in a private sale is about $7700. So I would estimate the value of this car at about $4500.































However a car with these major mechanical issues will be difficult to sell. You may need to go lower than this to sell the car. I would start off with $4500 then lower the price every week or so until it eventually sells.































Just be up front and honest with any potential buyers about these major mechanical issues to avoid any headaches later on. Maybe provide something in writing stating these problems and that the vehicle is being sold As Is so they do not try to come back at you later on to try and force you to pay for these repairs. Have the seller sign and date this agreement. Have the signing witnessed. Hang on to this document for several years.

that transmission is very expensive and so is the high voltage battery. donate it to charity for tax break.

First I would find out if both are actually bad. The classic Prius is somewhat known for throwing a bunch of spurious "Red Herring" codes when either of the 2 (HV or 12V Aux) batteries goes bad. Please update the question with the reported DTCs. For example the DTCs P3000 and P3006 mean that the HV battery has shorted a cell. P3009 means that there is a voltage leak to ground somewhere in the otherwise floating HV system. It can be anything from dust/corrosion buildup in the HV battery all the way up to a grounded winding in either of the 2 MGs in the transaxle.

Sell it for parts.































I still drive a fifteen year old GM car....
