make sure your fluid reservoir isnt low

Check if pressing on the accelerator moves the firewall, which is the plate the accelerator pedal is fastened to. It could cause the micro switch behind the brake pedal (which switches on the brake light) to press against the brake pedal. Or maybe your carpet is pressing up on the micro-switch when you press the accelerator?

Brake fluid is low. Start there.































Otherwise, your e-brake handle may need adjusting since it activates a light when it is slightly raised.

Look closely and you will see your foot is also hitting the brake.































Buy a Chevy and they won't be so close.































.

I just had this same problem in my 1992 corolla. there is a small rubber stopper that hits the microswitch above the brake pedal when the stopper is not there the contact leaves brake lights on and when you release the brake pedal it turns the brake lights off the stopper has to be there to turn the brake lights off. When you press down to brake on the brake pedal it turns on the light, when you release or take pressure off the brake pedal it push's a button in on a switch and that turns off the brake lights
