Are the sale of American cars still restricted in Japan?

Default Are the sale of American cars still restricted in Japan?
Years ago Ford had plants in Japan but was forced to close them and stop selling cars there by the Japanese government. Does this practice still continue today?? Have any American companies been allowed to build cars or sell cars there like before or does the Japanese government still ban it ??
