it will stuff your clutch, chances are the burning smell you can smell is your clutch. you are making something that is stationary and then trying to make it turn at highspeed think of all the toque the poor clutch is having to deal with. the clutch is one of the many driveline components that are taking a hell of a caning. you will also stuff your, gearbox and your diff. the diff will be the next thing that will go.
if you have an open diff, you will most likely be only able to spin up one wheel. - everything can spin them basically.
if you have an LSD diff you will most likely to be able to spin up both. - requires more HP.
what sort of burn out are you after? just a fly off the line with a trail of smoke or do you want to go real slow and make lots of smoke?
personally, i don't do any burn outs in my cars (unless its an accident) because i don't like putting the driveline through all that stress, i also couldn't afford to keep tyres on the car as i don't buy cheap tyres because i feel they are dangerous.
the only person impressed by your burnout will be yourself, everyone else will just think you are a wanker.
