Default Does a 1988 Toyota Camry have airbags? Is it safe?
I was told last night that my mom got me a car for my 20th birthday. I don't have it yet, and won't for like a month or so. But anyway. I've been looking at reviews and stuff about it online, and from what I can tell, it's great for a first car. But I read somewhere that it doesn't have airbags, and that really scares me. I don't wanna die. But I've also read that they're really tough. Are they safe?















I'm a safe driver, and I know I'M not going to get in a wreck, it's other people I don't trust. If someone runs a red lights, for instance, and hits me, I want to know if I'll be safe. (I know, it depends on how fast he was going, where he hit, blah blah blah. You know what I mean)

Umm I dont think they do since they are oldschool . The definition of SAFE when it comes to driving Rests in your hands

All cars are perfectly safe ... until you start running into things ... if you learn to drive before trying the car out ... you shouldn't have a problem

Yes indeed all cars are safe, pretty much depends on the one driving. id say, take it slow at first, but go to road with a lot of turns and or curves (ie mountain pass) and practice

Yes they are very safe.































Airbags are a relativity recent invention. Front Airbags only help when you hit someone. So if you are worried about someone hitting you, unless it's from the rear, Airbags won't help you.































To be honest there's nothing to worry about it not coming with airbags. Yes they do help but it's not such a big concern that you need to be worried about dying.































While there's no Crash Safety data for that year. Rest assured if someone was to hit you. You will survive.

Your 1988 is certainly much safer than any new Toyota. The Toyotas of the last 10 years can barely be defined as an automobile. They are unsafe, defective utility vehicles sort of like kitchen sinks on wheels.
