2006 Toyota Rav4 not accelerating?

Default 2006 Toyota Rav4 not accelerating?
When I try to accelerate with my Rav4 she is not picking up speed.Instead it is dying on me.Like when the engine is "gasping for air" kind of feeling.















My mechanic tested it and found nothing wrong with the computer.But he thinks catalytic converter is "plugged".This is an almost new vechicle only 50 thousand miles on it.Please Toyota mechanics help!















OK.thanx for the comments.Actually my guy told me the catalytic converter could be plugged or the oxygen sensor is at fault he said

A catalytic converter plugged?!















Yeah right. If your mechanic is worth anything he'd find the problem.















Not having the car in front of me and not being able to tinker with it myself, I cant really help. Your description of the problem is kinda vague.

find a real mechanic,,,















1 hows engine running? a miss...check p-lugs and wires















2 check engine lite,,,whats the scan say could be o2 sensor...or any of 10 differnt sensors















3 fuel filter

Go to a real mechanic, or better yet, have an OBD2 check done. With only 50,000 miles and acting like that I would be surprized if the cam belt slipped, but I wouldn't overlook the possibility. There are so many possibilities, use the OBD2 scan to narrow them down. Catalytic convertors are quite expensive, and too expensive if that really isn't the problem. AutoZone will do an OBD2 check free. Be sure to write down the trouble codes. Owning a code reader is a god idea. They aren't all that expensive compared to shop rates fordiagnosis and repair.
