Until the end of 2007 chip keys were optional in toyota vehciles, our 06 and 07 Toyotas don't have chip keys, but my girlfriends 08 Yaris does. Have a locksmith make a regular key first, it should lock and unlock the doors, but if you try to start it and the engine doesn't crank it requires a coded chip key which cost upwards of 150 dollars. Whatever you do, don't keep trying to start the engine if it refuses to crank. Some vehicles have a lockout which will completely shut the starting circuit off and a Toyota dealer will have to turn it back on. I know that my grandpa's 08 F-150 has a chip key and if it has 3 failed crank attempts it locks out the starter even if the correctly coded key is used.
