I don't know much about them, but Edmunds gave them a fairly good review. They recommend the optional V-6 engine, since there is a big difference in power, but very little difference in fuel economy.
My friend had a 2008 Rav4. He didn't like it because of the cheap inside materials on the seats, and especially the plastic dash. He said the entire dash board fell off while tuning the radio one day and Toyota had to glue it back on. And he said it is very loud and noisy on the road and its inside plastics all squeak and make cheap noises while driving after just a few thousand miles. Then his transmission went out and the struts blew out too. So other than that it was good except for a transmission oil leak which dripped all over his garage floor. He got rid of it and bought a new Ford Edge...and he said the difference in good Ford quality is like night and day.
