Default Two questions about hybrid cars?
Just bought a Camry Hybrid. It's not that I need a jump but just wondering IF I were to drain the battery completely somehow and needed a jump how does that work exactly?















and















If the car is parked for several months at a time (say due to a long trip) is it ok to leave the battery "plugged in"?

There's a book located in your glove box called an owner's manual. Other than that, call Toyota and ask them directly. I would never on any electronic device leave the battery plugged in. The more you leave a lithium battery plugged in, the more you drain it's lifespan.

You jump start a Camry Hybrid just like any other car. It has a regular 12 volt battery. If it was so dead that the proximity key would not open the doors or trunk you would have to remove the little key from the key fob and put it in the door lock the old fashioned way to open the door.































There are recommendations in the owner's manual about long term storage but it's generally harmless. Toyota hybrids do not have lithium ion batteries. They have Nickel-Metal-Hydride (NiMH) batteries. The regular 12V lead acid battery may go flat over that period just like any other car battery. Once the car is started it will recharge the hybrid battery.































The first generation (2001-2003) Prius had only the one big hybrid battery. If it went dead it required replacement. It could not be jumped like more recent hybrids.
