My 2004 toyota echo has a bad miss all of a sudden!!?

Everything was fine then I started it up and its chugging. A big miss. When I rev the engine it goes away. Other than than that when I idle it it misses. I CAN drive it but I dont go fast. And I dont go far.

Ive been told a couple things. Its either a 02 sensor. (but i dont smell rotten eggs)

or vacum hose leak?

Help is an understatement.

O2 sensor is an easy fix but it wouldn't make it miss

change your spark plugs and plug wires, get a good, not cheap but not expensive brand and have them installed properly

if that doesn't help, it may be a fuel problem

if it happens oddly, not certain when or what control on gas, it might be mechanical.

Could be a failed or wet igniter. The 1.5l 1NZ-FE has igniter on plug ignition which is similar to coil on plug but instead of the computer switching the coil primary current directly it just sends the 4 individual igniters logic pulses and they switch themselves. Sometimes water will get down into the tubes in the valve cover that the igniters sit in and will short them out causing the miss.

For spark plugs use only the proper Denso or NGK iridium plugs, which last 100k miles.
