What should my RPM be on a '91 Toyota camry.?

Default What should my RPM be on a '91 Toyota camry.?
I have a '91 Toyota Camry and I notice that the RPM's on it when I am at a red light or the car is not moving, but is on "drive" is 500 RPM, and that to me is a bit low, should it be higher? At what RPM should it be?

No Toyota's Idle low. If it sounds like a miss fire or, your check engine light is on then check it out. I work for Toyota now and that's the first thing I noticed about them. It's probably fine.

Usually for an auto it's normal for the revs to be around 800 RPM on "drive" for that model camry, but if it's any lower, it's too low. For smooth performance & a good failsafe all vehicles should have an idle speed of 1000 RPM, So yes, it should be higher.
