Im about to buy a 2003-2005 toyota mr2 spyder and i was wondering if there would be a problem with buying one that has a lot of miles on it if i am going to replace the engine with a 2zz anyways.....is there anything else that wears down besides the engine at around 100k miles that could decrease life aswell.....btw on a sidenote how much would it be to swap to a 2zz(parts and labor estimate)...

not sure about the motor prices, but on the mr2 you have to be careful with the motor and the transmission, if you get a model with higher mileage, and swap the motor out the tranny might not hold up as nice as you would like so still getting one in your price range but with lower mileage is going to be best, and i would stick with a manual shift gate if possible! stay away from automatics if you plan on supping it up

The transmission is an obvious expensive that wears out. Suspension parts can be expensive and there are lots of them. . Every moving part wears out eventually wears out































Engines usually last way past 100k these days.

axles, transmission, etc. also get affected with how many miles. The engine isn't the only thing that gets worn down. Check the car out under the hood, and if everything else works good when you drive it, it should be fine.

On a Toyota it matters a LOT since ALL parts will be severally worn, not just the engine.
