electrical problems can be tough on cars and trucks.
You checked the fuses which is a good place to start.
There could be a headlight relay that went out - do a Google search "1982 toyota headlight relay"

If that isn't it then it could be the switch or a bad ground.
Some cars have a LCM (light control module) but I don't think they had those in 1982.
You can pull the headlights out and use a multimeter to see if you are getting power at the plug.
Try to pull the switch out and bypass the switch by putting a jumper wire past it to see if the lights come on.
Hopefully it is just a relay
