how do I reprogram my car's stock keyless entry to perform different functions than what is
assigned? I am located in Japan, but I'm from the US. I spend my time over here learning as much as I can about whatever pops into my head. Some time ago, the keyless entry fob broke. I super glued it shut, due simply by the fact that it was going to be upwards of $300 to get a new key fob made. When I was younger, I heard of people reprogramming their keyless entry to respond to different commands. Mainly in German automobiles, but that was 5 or so years ago. I am driving a Toyota Altezza (Japanese version of the Lexus IS300). it has laser cut keys, like on most cars these days. My key fob has only 2 buttons, so I was going to order a Lexus factory key fob, containing 3 buttons, and do a little modification of the buttons and what they actually do.
I have heard of having a button to put up your power windows, and modifications among those lines, on cars like the Volkswagen GTi. I was really looking for something like that, plus maybe a 2-button combination to have remote start capabilities.
Any information on where I could get this done, how I could get some software or a general direction to point me would be greatly appreciated. I have 2 valet keys, which I don't ever use, so if it came down to it, i heard you could replace those in your car's computer with the other functions needed.
