Default How much does it cost to replace and repair a torque converter on a 1989 toyota land cruiser?
my 1989 toyota land cruiser will not go over 3rd gear, i think it is the torque converter. i need to know around how much it would be to get it fixed?

This is probably not an economic repair on a 20 yr old Landcruiser, once you start removing an automatic transmission you will soon get to $2000 - it is complicated and time consuming work and there are no short cuts.















Scrap it .

The first step is to get a proper diagnosis. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it would be an uncommon failure for that transmission.































My best suggestion is to join the forum at http://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/ and ask questions there and try to find a knowledgeable and reputable mechanic in your area that can do the work or help you find what you need.































Price will vary dramatically depending on what is actually needed and who you are paying to do the work. Good luck. FJ62s are great rigs.
