As long as the oil isn't below the "min" marking on the dipstick, your car will be fine. It should be the yellow loop in the engine bay. Take it out, wipe the bit that goes in the pipe, dip it in and check if the oil is below the marking.
Toyotas are well know to gobble up and burn oil. Just buy a quart and put it in. You should get 2 or 3 quarts while in the auto store so that once a month you can add a quart of oil to your Avalon. They usually burn oil at a rate of about a quart a month. So do the Corollas and Camrys so your is not unusual in this. My Camrys engine blew at 20,000 mile because of engine sludge when the oil was changed religiously by the Toyota dealer every three months.
I agree that as long its not below the minimum level that you should be fine. I would check to see if it has an oil leak. I strongly disagree that it would be burning up oil. Its only a 4 year old car.
