Engine in Toyota Camry Nascar Vehicle?

Default Engine in Toyota Camry Nascar Vehicle?
A friend of mine tried to say that the engines in the Toyota Camry Nascar vehicles are the same base engines in the regular Toyota Camry. The regular engine in a Toyota Camry is a 2.5-L 4-Cylinder with a total of 169 hp. Nascar vehicles push out over 800 hp. He then continued to say that if he put enough turbo in his Camry, it could keep up with the nascar ones. What are the engines used in the Toyota Nascar Vehicles and are they at all similar to the ordinary street legal Camry?

Your friend is full of crap.















It's a V8 motor.































It's barely even correct to call it a camry at all.















They share no common parts, except for the body styling.

The Motor used in the Nascar camry is a one-off carburated pushrod OHV V8 with only the construction material (aluminum) in common with the engine in the camry. It weighs about half as much as a street camry and an 800 hp 2.5 would have a short life span unless LOTS of money where put into it.
