ask to see the service history of the car, and also check and see if the timing belt has been changed, if they both come back good then certainly seems to bee ok, but make sure you insist on taking it for a good long test drive and check the engine water levels before and after the test drive, if it has gone down considerably then avoid as it is a sign of head gasket failure,
when the car is sitting still start it up and listen for any noises under the bonnet allow to idle for a few minutes wile sitting in the car listen for any irregularities in the engine rpm,
while sitting there rev the engine up through the range making sure it revs clean and smooth,, if not then kindly turn down the offer if it all seems good then go for it but only give around $5000 for it
hope this helps
thanks
sorry forgot to add, check the engine oil dipstick, if theres any sign of residue on the oil dipstick (like a creamy white liquid sludge) then avoid as it is a sign of coolant in the head and signs of either head gasket going or a cracked headd
