Default 2000 corolla ATF change?
planning on changing the automatic fluid on my corolla tomo. wanted to know if i HAVE to change the filter as well and hence open the pan? will i need new parts or can i just drain and refil. any tips? thanks.















so is the drain plug for the atf reusable?

My Toyota mechanic says to just drain and refill. I believe him. Most don't have drain plugs for transmission fluid. If you need to remove the pan to drain the fluid, you may need a gasket (oh, what a messy job).















Love my Toyotas ('93 Corolla with 328,000 miles, '96 Corolla, '98 Rav4).

The filter should come with a pan gasket.

IF THE OIL IS DARK RED AND NEVER BE CHANGED FOR MOR THAN 80,000 KM,SO YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE OIL FILTER WITH NEW PAN GASKET,EASY JOB.

Just drain and refill. However, the transmission plug is not the same as a oil drain plug. It is like a little square. You do not need to take off the pan, you take off the pan to replace the filter. You do not need to replace the filter, just drain and refill. Yes the drain plug is reusable. Tip: Do not use the wrong transfluid. If i can remember, it was ATF-4.
