Toyota Corolla 08 rattling exhaust sound?

I've had my car for 3 years now, and recently it's been making really loud rattling sounds that seem to be coming from the exhaust. It minorly sounds like a machine exploding. Is the car just aging? Or should I be worried by this sound?

First needs to be checked by a qualified good mechanic. Second to me sounds like it may be that your tailpipe has hole or holes in it? Just you need to get it checked out.

I would bring it right in to a dealer. You dont want to take any chances. Corollas are unsafe, not engineered well and are unreliable. I have seen them closeup and from an engineering standpoint. Don't believe Consumer reports or JD Power and Associates. They have a price and Toyota paid it to them to give their cars great ratings and reviews. They are NOT a neutral third party. They do not care about the consumer, their goal is to make money and toyota paid it. THIS IS A FACT

Without any Toyota bashing (largest car company in the world) it sounds like your catalytic converter may have cracked or broken or just come loose. It happens sometimes. The cat substrate is like a porous brick that the exhaust goes through. if it come loose or breaks it will rattle. your car being an 08 should be FULLY covered under the exhaust emission warranty. take it to the dealer. if it is a broken cat they will have to replace the entire converter assy.

This is not an aging issue on the car. A 2008 automobile should not have this problem at all. As you know Toyota quality has slipped badly from 1998 on till today. The exaust welds are poorly done and coming apart, or rusting. When the three year warrenty on a toyota runs out, it's best to ditch it, because quality troubles are bound to follow. Good luck.
