Default electrical problems 1996 toyota corolla?
I am having an issue with my 96 corolla starting when it is rainy. The starter continuously turns the engine for about 2 minutes and then it will hesitate to start. As this is going on, I can see the electric (spark) on the outside of the distributor cap. I noticed today that i had a serious corrosion problem on the positive (+) side of the battery and i cleaned it

replace distributor cap and points if it has any, may need to replace wires too.

You should not start the car continuously for 2 minutes as it will kill your starter. You should crank it for no more than 10 second continuously and shut it off and try again. Your starting problem sounds like there is moisture in the distributer cap or in the spark plug wire tip. Buy an electrical cleaner spray to remove the moisture and use the sand paper to sand the contact point of the cap and rotor.
