what is wrong with my toyota 4runner?

Default what is wrong with my toyota 4runner?
i have an 93 automatic 4runner v6 4x4 and when i am going on the freeway it wont go into 5th gear. every time i hit 65-70mph the rpm is at 4-5 i know that's not good. what can i do to fix this? is it just because it is cold or do i need to get a shift control solenoid?? please help!!!!

try to get it serviced first before you spend a lot of money rebuilding it...aky you local auto part store cause im not to familiar with the 4runners but there are little things like that that can stop it from shifting ok... ;-)

Maybe the O/D lockout switch is actuated. Is there a light on the dash saying overdrive off?































P.S. there is no 5th gear. The tranny goes into 4th, which is O/D, and then the torque converter locks. This lockup feels like another shift, which many people think is another gear change. If yours is not locking when it's supposed to, you may need to service it, or have it checked out by a shop.
