Same thing happened to me in my 2002 camry!! The car would just turn off after you would stop pressing the gas. The car is not "idling." This was happening after I had to switch the starter. We took it to our mechanic again and he had to put in some codes in the computer of the car for it to "learn how to run at idle speeds." Never had a problem since. Took him 5-10 minutes to put in the codes. I suggest you consult your mechanic asap.
Also, you can go ahead and try to drive your car to the mechanic like I did to save towing it. If you come to a stop, just quickly switch it to neutral, press the brake and keep revving the gas around 1 RPM to keep the engine from dyeing. To start going, just switch to drive. Be careful, I was able to pull it off.
