Default Ae86 engine swap to mr2 mk1?
Can an ae86 motor swap into a mr2 mk1? Is there any additional mods or is it just literally bolts on to the mr2 engine compartment?

Nope.































Since the AE86 is a Front Engine/Rear Wheel Drive setup it's not going to work in a Mid-Engine/Rear Wheel Drive setup.































One of the problems with Mid/Rears is the limited availability of Engine Swaps.































I know people have swapped other motors into the First Gen's but I'm not sure if they were one off's or if there's a popular option. Check out a good MR2 Forum.

Yes, you can swap the engine, just not the transmission. The AE86 uses the same engine as the mk1 mr2, the 4age. There are several variants of the 4age, but they are all interchangable with one another (as far as the US versions go). The real difference is transmission, however and c-series Toyota transmission will bolt up to any 4age, thus you can reuse your transmission (assuming you have one) Depending on what your budget is, there are many swaps available for the mk1 mr2.
