Installing a hitch on 2002 Toyota Highlander?

Default Installing a hitch on 2002 Toyota Highlander?
I have a hitch made for my Highlander, and it does not involve welding to install. In the instructions it says to tighten the bolts to 42 foot pounds of torque. I have a compressor and can install the bolts, but how to I get it to that "tightness".

You will have to by or borrow a torque wrench.

The Toyota dealer I use will check minor items like correct torque for free.















If your hitch is a Toyota specified hitch, they will also make sure your wiring connections















are correct. I ordered a hitch for a 2nd Gen Tundra, and at installation time (I had the dealer















install it) a bulletin had been issued instructing a minor change in the connection.















I go over everything with Toyota, because even the smallest miscalculation could be















catastrophic.
