There are 2 bolts securing the alternator. One of the bolts is actually mount the alternator on a sliding bracket (you should able to feel it with your hand). This is the bolt for you to adjust belt tensioning.
Loosen this bolt and you should able to slide the alternator along the bracket. Put it up, remove the belt, than proceed to loosen the other mounting bolt - remove the alternator.
To install, mount the new alternator in the reverse procedure. After you have put the belt back, push the alternator all the way to stretch the belt till it is in the correct tension (you may need other help to hold the alternator in it place) tighten the adjusting bolt.
If the belt is badly wore-out, take it to the accessory shop to get a replacement belt of the same specifications.
