Probably one of the sensers is bad.o2 most likely

It could be a lot of different things actually....first off, check your fuel cap. If the cap isn't fitting properly, then the engine light will come on. I would recommend heading down to your local Toyota dealership's service dept. and ask them to take a look at it for you.

There's literally over 500 trouble codes that can turn on that one little light. You have to take it to someone with a scanner that can plug into the car and get the exact trouble code number. That's were you start.















Most common is you left the gas cap loose or pumped gas with the car running but is complete speculation until you find out the trouble code.

You need to check with a Toyota dealer to be on the safe side.















Also, If either the front or rear of the car has been raised above















a certain height (rotate or balance tires, change a flat), this can















trigger the "engine " light to come on.















There are so many sensors and wires leading to this "check engine"















light, Toyota can plug into the diagnostic module and do quick exam.















I would also check the coolant and oil levels right away, just to play it safe.

1 or 2 things out of 100s of problem. go to Autozone and tell them that your check engine light is on. they'll scan your car for free. it's better than going into the toyota dealer and paying over a $100 just for them to do a diagnostic check(just to look up what is giving you the check engine light).
