Default What engine does the australian model of toyota mr2 mkII (1990-1999) have?
I get my p plates soon and i was interested in the toyota mr2 as a first car. What are the engines that were available at the australian market and what is their power output?..thanks.

MR2 engines are the same worldwide. ( due to it's mid engine lay out)















The lower sales and profit margins on 2 seater, "exotic" mid engine sports cars would prohibit Toyota from reducing it's profit margin on this vehicle. I owned two 1st gen MR2's, a one new the first year they were introduced in the U.S.















a new one the last year of the mk1. I wish I still had them both. They were exceptional cars...and I was a car trading Idiot.

I'm honestly not 100% sure for the Aussie market without looking.































I'm pretty sure they came with either a 3S-GE or 3S-GTE that came in the Celica GT-4.















































In that case you're looking at 160hp vs 240hp I believe.

dont know...could be that japan style of having the 3sge or 3sgte...the euro style of having the 3sfe or 3sge...or the american style of having the 5sfe or 3sgte..
