the 1st generation MR-2 was offered in a base & a twin cam EFI model called a supercharger. It was an intercooled engine with the perks such as a targa roof. I beleive that model was exclusive for that car only. You could check with the wreckers if a 2nd generation MR-2 engine could fit OR go with a celica GT-S engine. My advice would be to do some research on engine types for this car before doing anything.

The AW10/AW11 uses the 3A, 4A-GE, 4A-GZE, the most common power plants you'll see in the 1st gen MR-2s is the 4A series engine.































You can find the 4A-GE being used in older Corollas/Sprinters, Celicas, Carinas, even in older Chevy Novas and Geo Prisms. The 4A-GZE was used in the USDM MR-2, and shared with the JDM Corollas/Sprinters.
