Rattling from the engine help!?

Default Rattling from the engine help!?
I have a 2002 Toyota Camry with 180,000 miles on it. When I start the car up, I hear this faint rattling noise and I also hear it when I am parked but not when I drive it goes away. I've been doing research and have found that my year had a faulty tensioner that may need to be replaced and I've also heard the serpentine belt may need to be adjusted. What could it be?

belts don't normally rattle, but it's worth a check....































check the heat shields around the exhaust header and cat.

Serpentine belts should be replaced after 100 000 miles. they do get noisy.There is no adjustment ,a spring loaded tensioner does that. See a Toyota dealer at least they know what they are talking about.

If your having an rattling sound, thats 99% the your piston tapping your heads. Meaning a rebuild. Meaning that oil was not changed as often as it could of been. If it was a serpentine belt, it would be a loud squeaky sounds.































Long story short, might be time to trade up.
