What happend to my 88 tercel?
1988 toyota tercel carburated. As i was driving down the highway, the engine had somewhat lost power, then all of a sudden a big vibration/boom occured then a whole lot of smoke had came out from the exhaust and engine. i was still able to drive home but with tons of smoke following and power to the engine was lost. now it starts up like a monster(loud as heck) and runs like a John Deere lawn mower. Could anyone assist me by telling me what might have happend? also the car had a decent amount of oil in the engine but after what happend, it had became black and kind of thick looking, sludge?
