Check engine suddenly came on?

Default Check engine suddenly came on?
2006 Corolla































I drove my car to work, no problems, 8 hours later, I turn the car on and the check engine light stayed on.































I figured maybe it was the gas cap, seemed tight but I made sure, turned the car on and it was still on.































Car is running fine, never gave me trouble.































Do you think this is an expensive problem? lol

How would it not come on suddenly? Take it to autozone or advance they will scan it for free, come back and post the code.

usually, it's an emissions issue. Probably the oxygen sensor. You *could* try resettting the computer (disconnect the battery for 15 minutes & re-connect) to see if it goes out. That's what I did to my car when driving in the mountains in NM (and living in the Hill Country). Reset computer, light went out.

Probably. Have your technician scan the OBDII system for fault codes. Should be able to tell immediately. O-2 sensor or.???

My mom has the same model car.... apparently, some sensor was broken... and it was like $400, but it isn't necessary to run the car..... not sure if that's your problem though... good luck..

2006 starting failure in a Toyota Corolla?! Very sad, but all too common these days. Electronic sensors are defective in many Toyotas due to poor manufacturing lines set up in impoverished countries. This saves Toyota money.
