Blue smoke at startup is an indication of burning oil caused by bad valve seals. Try adding Lucas oil treatment to your engine oil first. If the smoking doesn't stop, or at least reduce considerably, then your engine will need a valve job. The knocking you hear when turning is worn CV joints. Those need to be replaced before they fail, causing the vehicle to be immobile. If you are not mechanically inept to replacing the joints yourself (usually replacing the whole drive axle is much easier and not really that expensive), then yes, take it to a mechanic or someone who is.
