must have the 3vze V6. sounds like you got the cam(s) clocked late. more than one tooth. did you use the alignment/tension-er tool when clocking the cams?
and what do you mean "i have to bottom the distributor"?
what caused you to replace the belt? maintenance or repair?
we need answers to those three questions first.
it's a non-interference engine so you're good there.

yea i realized it's the v6. the four has a T-chain.
either ignition or cams are late. do a quick check that your on tdc compression stroke with the rotor pointing to the #1 plug hole on the cap. not tdc exhaust stroke.
since it has jumped before, did you replace the belt? once they jump they can jump again. new belt. also, once they are used, the are directional and is subject to being tossed if put back on in reverse rotation.
did you turn the crank by hand or wrench at least two full revolutions after cam alignment and recheck indexing?
you can't hurt anything here.
