Default Is my rav4 a 4 wheel drive?
When I purchased the car on the 26/01/2009 from RRG Stockport I was told, that I was buying a 4 wheel drive. I have just had my 2nd MOT done and was told that my car is only a 2 wheel front drive. My reg number is MV53LHT, engine number is















1ZZ1513588, 1794 CC Petrol. Please could you tell me if MV53LHT is a 2 wheel dive car or a 4 wheel dive car. Please could you email me with an answer as soon as possible.

hello mrs stone ..if your mot tester says its two wheel drive then it is ...he is the guy who has been under the car ...if has got it wrong then he should be sacked ..but i doubt it ...i own a garage..add ...check on your V5 model numbers NV were 2 wheel drive

then i'm at least 95% sure it is a 2 wheel drive. Most RAV4's are actually front wheel drive, although there were models with 4 wheel drive.































You could have a look at previous MOTs if you have them or any vehicle documents such as a DVLA V5c. These should also state whether it is 2 or 4 wheel driven.

The 1.8 litre engine RAV4 is FRONT WHEEL DRIVE only.















The 2.0 litre engine RAV4 is FOUR WHEEL DRIVE.















Unfortunately your engine size (1794cc) is the 1.8 and is therefore only front wheel drive.

Have a look under the rear of the car. If there is a differential housing you have 4 wheel drive. If not, you have 2 wheel ( front ) drive SIMPLES

I can't believe that anyone would believe the word of a second hand car dealer!! Didn't you look under the car to see if it had drive-shafts to the front and rear wheels? He just wants to sell cars - not interested in telling you the truth - though in fact some of them are so ignorant he probably did not know himself. You may need to speak to Trading Standards.
