my central locking system on my toyota prius isnt working. might be the ice? any ideas?

I have tried both key fobs. I do not have a separate key so I am stuck without access to my car. The walking is keeping me fit but I do need to have my car back! Where is the central locking receiver located? It could be covered by ice or snow?

I have no separate key to access the doors so am relying on the key fobs only.

With my Toyota, the first thing to go in the winter is the electrical system. I have a Corolla, and at this point the doors won't even shut, and the open door light is always on. So, when I'm in the car with the keys in the ignition, it won't let me lock the doors because it thinks they're open. Also, another year, it was convinced all winter that the e-break was on. Silly car.

I find these problems start from about -10 F and below, and by the time it hits -35 or -40, my Corolla is hardly working. I'd just run your car for a long period of time, or put it some place warm so it can revive. Toyotas are particular about the cold.

it could be the cold weather try new batteries in the fob could be they are low

Chances are the locks themselves are frozen, have you tried the key in the drivers door?

There is a key for manual unlocking inside the fob. To access, just press the slider on the end and pull the key out with the silver ring on the fob.

Besides the lock being frozen, your 12V auxiliary battery could need replacement.
