Default looking for all season tires with good snow traction for my 2008 prius.?
the more I research, the more confused I am. Currently have bridgestone tires and they are terrible in the snow.

The Prius groups usually recommend either Bridgestone Blizzaks, Nokian WR or WRG2, or Michelin X Ice.































Use either the stock size tire or the narrowest tire that has the proper height and load ratings, IOW go 1 size lower on the width and 1 step larger on the aspect ratio. For traction you want the tire to bite through the snow and find pavement not sit on top of the snow like a snow shoe.































To the person that said get a truck, trucks are great (I prefer the '88-94 Chevy K series) but people often think 4x4 makes them invincible and as such end up in the ditch. 4x4 helps you get moving in the snow but it doesn't help you stop and it actually makes turning corners harder. No experience with AWD.

You don't say what kind of Bridgestones you have. However Wondering is correct. Nokian WR-g2, Bridgestone Blizzak, and Michelin X Ice are all good traction tires. The WR-g2 are low rolling resistance, severe service all-season tires. In addition the WR-g2 are H speed rated. H speed rated tires have more material in the tread and bead areas then lower speed rated tires and so are more robust.































Be sure to compensate for the cold weather by increasing the air pressure in the tires. If you haven't done this then the pressure will be quite low because air shrinks significantly when cold.































Mostly a truck with a big engine just gets you stuck harder. They also require more driver skill to keep you from doing doughnuts. The vehicle stability control in the Prius prevents doughnuts if you are going anything like a reasonable speed for the conditions.

Michelin X Ice. or Hankook are the best for snow... please visit Tire Rack for better pricing..
