supra engine pass emissions?

Hi, recently i bought a twin turbo engine for my supra (1995) and swaped the stock engine. I am woried it won't pass ilinois emissions because its a JDM engine. ( got it off ebay ;o) I heard the only way to pass it is to pay the guy off but thats the last thing ill do

Your JDM engine and emissions stuff wont pass US emissions. Its just common sense.

It will pass, but only if you kept all the emissions control devices from the stock motor installed.

Be sure your catalytic converter is good, use cold spark plugs and close the spark gap by 10%, replace your fuel filter, check your EGR valve, replace your PCV valve, try restricting air flow through the air filter (this will reduce NO emissions by creating richer mixtures). Replace your O2 sensor. If it doesn't detect O2 properly, then the ECM will think the mixture is rich and then compensate by leaning it more.

I would save myself a lot of questionable advice and take it to

a Toyota dealer. A certified mechanic can take one look and tell

you the modifications your need to pass the emissions test.

You gone to the trouble of swapping engines, but you still basically have

a Toyota. You need to get this critical step done right, and by a mechanic

most familiar and best trained on Toyotas. The wrong move could

ultimately damage your engine and other components.
