how to know what is the engine type of my Toyota diesel engine?

Default how to know what is the engine type of my Toyota diesel engine?
I have a modified jeep with a Toyota diesel engine. it was running real good till the wing nut that holds the air filter in place broke through the end of the thin aluminium outer face and found its way into an inlet valve chamber.? Luckily it was close to home.















I got it fixed by some "back yard Mechanics"that don't speak any english ( I live in Thailand ) but now it is very noisy and I would like to have a check my self by looking up the specs on Google but I don't know the type.















According to the head gasket that fitted, its a Toyota 2L-T but that does not have tappets, but the cam shaft operates the valves, mine has rocker arms. How can i get the valve clearance info. The Thai mechanic used one feeler gauge for all,

there's an engine casting number on the left side of the cylinder block















2L should be 77-85. rockers, no shims. the valves are set the same for a 2L or 2L T. T just means turbo. you have a 2L. you just got the reinforced gasket for a turbo.

This is Such a Great Question.































I sincerely appreciate you asking this. I too had difficulties for a while finding a reputable source for parts for my '97 Ford F250 that were not remanufacutered parts or in poor condition. Finding the right auto part for your diesel truck, let alone at the lowest pricem is quite a challenge. I tired a few places online, but typically wound up returning everything i bought since it did not fit or was in bad condition. However, I have had great success dealing with WCP Diesel. These guys know their stuff. I think they could help you find what you are looking for.
