Default 2010 Toyota Rav4, does anyone know if it has a microchip?
I have a 2010 Toyota Rav4, does anyone know if this vehicle has a microchip in it, where if someone was to steal the vehicle, they wouldn't be able to start up the car? And also, is there a tracking system on the vehicle, say if it was stolen, will they be able to use a GPS and find my car?

Most of them have a security key that will keep them from starting.















As far as GPS to find if stolen, NO.















You can get Lojack added which will do that but not a factory option.

If you have the keyless entry system there is a chip in the key that will close the engine immobilizer loop so the car can be started. The previous comment about LO-JACK is correct, if you want a GPS-enabled tracking system it's optional equipment which will come with a monthly monitoring fee.































You might get a break on your insurance premium if you opt for LO-JACK, not really sure about that. I lived in two high-crime cities and never had a problem, Toyotas aren't on the most stolen car lists.

many many microchips, but I guessing your talking about an immobiliser/ tracking system, gps is usually an option or aftermarket installation. Most modern cars come with some type of security system, usually a non start scenario, and their rather complicated to bypass of the joe average theif, id recommend fitting a gps type immobiliser alarm system if your worried about it, but it will need an active simcard to communicate over the cell networks... good fun if you like techy stuff, tracking the vehicles movments from your browser!
